OnePlan Task Management Resource
OnePlan is Macquarie University's project and task management product resource for staff personal, project and portfolio needs; and allows you to control project schedule, tasks, expenses, status and condition.
OnePlan also features the ability to share, collaborate and coordinate information between team members, resulting in faster identification and resolution of issues.
OnePlan is available at: https://wiki.mq.edu.au/login.action;jsessionid=58785E90D3DCE5496AE78831C71FB186?os_destination=%2Fdisplay%2Foneplan
You can access information about your project anytime, anywhere. Sharing this information with your colleagues and supervisors gives increased visibility on projects and across projects in a portfolio, thereby allowing you to accurately track the status and progress.
Note: OnePlan has a cost - $240 per person is anticipated by the University. However, the cost will be covered in 2012, so this gives staff the opportunity to test the product this year to see if it is value for money.

Requests to print forms for enrolments
Students are coming to the Library and asking where to print an enrolement confirmation advice.
Students do not require a printed copy of their enrolement advice in order to get a student card. All they have to do is provide ID eg: Drivers Licence.
There have also been cases reported where students are being asked to printout and fill in a form in order to get an exception/exemption in a particular unit, and/or to print a copy of a scan of their drivers licence.
If you get such a request, please find out who directed them to the Library (eg which building, room, part of the process, a name). Then call your Service Coordinator so they can assist the student and finally report to Reenah Lampert, who will contact Enrolments on the Library's behalf.

Draft timetables for Sessions 3 and 1 2012
In case students enrolling in Session 3 or Session 1 2012 approach you at the Service Zone desks:
Draft timetables for units in Session 3 2012 (and closer to time other sessions) are located at: https://timetables.mq.edu.au/2012/
Alternative access is via the Macquarie University webpage - Students option - Popular links - Timetable, but the access choice is The new timetable viewer tool and then Units to get to the url above.
This link does however include General Information, old Timetable pdfs, department information etc that may be of use to students.
As always, refer students to Enrolment help if they are having difficulties. Until we obtain updated information, refer domestic students to the Lincoln Building student centre, international students to the International Office in E3A and SIBT students to the SIBT Office in E3A. For specialist groups eg: MGSM, HDR etc, refer them back to their original contacts at the university for assistance.
Note that some students will be enrolling through the Centre for Open Education (X5B).
An additional source of information (thank you to Stephanie Pun) is: http://www.mq.edu.au/courses/session_3/how_to_enrol/

Students being referred to the Library for printing
During enrolment periods, enrolling students may come to the Service Zones asking where to print an enrolment confirmation advice.
Please be advised that students do not require a printed copy of their enrolement advice in order to get a student card. All they have to do is provide ID eg: Drivers Licence
Some enrolment centres will also send enrolling students to the Library to make copies of various enrolment forms, not realising that the students (who do not yet have a student ID card) will have to buy a copy card and add credit even to copy one page.
1. Refer this to your Service Coordinator who will:
2. Find out from the student which student centre has sent them.
3. Advise Reenah Lampert x7773 who will contact the centre directly to remind them that the Library does not provide coin-operated or free copy service.

Email access for casual and contract employees
Email access for casual and contract employees who are leaving the university or are awaiting to be reappointed under a new contract has been extended.
Staff leaving the university will generally be granted continued Macquarie University email access for up to three (3) months. This will ensure email access for the period between the end of year when many casual staff contracts expire to the generation of new casual staff contracts in February/March of the following year.
Staff leaving the University may also have Macquarie University email forwarded to an external address for six (6) months from the time of termination.
In addition, access to HR Online will be provided for up to two years after a user ceases to be an employee of the University, to enable access to payslips and payment summaries. Access to other Macquarie University systems will cease when the employee does not have a contract of employment with the University with the exception of HR Online.
This message was sent by Doug Barker, HR Operations Manager (Human Resources), and approved by Tim Sprague, Director, Human Resources.

Macquarie Theatre refurbishment
The Macquarie Theatre refurbishment works will commence on site from Friday 9 December.
The Theatre will be undergoing significant refurbishment which will take the venue from a 1970s traditional theatre into a more modern, sustainable teaching and learning facility allowing large group teaching (max. 500 people) alongside small group active learning space (max. 60 people).
Initial works will involve preparing the site for the refurbishment, with site fences to be erected. This will affect pedestrian and vehicle access down Western Road and around W5C and W5B (Macquarie Theatre).
Clear identification of the work site can be seen on this map, and alternative access routes are also highlighted. Pedestrians wishing to reach Wally's Walk from the W4 car park will be able to do so by heading down Western Rd. A new set of stairs will link the pathway adjacent to W5A with Wally's Walk. There will be no pedestrian thoroughfare between buildings W5C and W3A. Current exit and entrance doors in W3A will still be accessible.
Access from W3A, C3A and C5A to Wally's Walk will be maintained.
Pedestrians are advised to take caution when moving around the refurbishment site.
The Coffee Cart will be moved to opposite the Theatre, outside C7A (old Library).
It is anticipated the Theatre will reopen in January 2013.
Note that the Lotus Theatre (W6D) will be the alternative venue for large group lectures in 2012 (see Blog post W6D - Lotus theatre).
For more information, please go to the Macquarie Theatre Refurbishment website or contact Scott Hearne, Senior Project Manager, Property on x1364 ormailto:orscott.hearne@mq.edu.au.

iLab
iLab is Macquarie University's new approach to computer laboratories, enabling students to use Windows and Macintosh applications for their university work from anywhere on most kinds of personal computers, tablets and smartphones.
One of the best things about it is that if you have a Windows computer, you can still use mac.iLab and if you have a Mac you can still use win.iLab - unique in the Australian higher education landscape.
One of the best things about it is that if you have a Windows computer, you can still use mac.iLab and if you have a Mac you can still use win.iLab - unique in the Australian higher education landscape.
iLab 1.0 is just the beginning, offering the same set of applications with a few additions. For example SPSS, a statistical program many students need to use, is now available on both Windows and Macintosh. Adobe Creative Suite for Macintosh is available for the first time. Naturally, Microsoft Office is also available on both platforms. Future iLab releases will deliver a much larger range of applications that students need for their studies.
To find out more about iLab, including how to use it, visit http://products.mq.edu.au/ilab.
