Endnote update 2012

The Library provides download access to Endnote X4, X5 and X6.
Note: there is no support for X5 (online support is available through the LibGuide).

Download X4, X5 and X6 from the Bibliographic Referencing Software LibGuide at: http://libguides.mq.edu.au/content.php?pid=114111&sid=1012047

Click the Endnote tag at the top, then select the appropriate version of Endnote depending on your operating system (Windows or Mac), and the version of Word that you use. These are listed next to each link.
Click the link and follow the prompts.

The Library trains in and supports Endnote X4 only. Training sessions on Library PCs and the Endnote Training Guide are still only available using Endnote X4.

The Library does not currently support X5 or X6. Refer to the LibGuide for online tutorials and help.

Referencing - an alternative education tool

Assignment referencing expectations and plagarism awareness are important concepts in both school and the university. This site could be of interest for Community clients, HSC extension students, and to students from CME and SIBT.

The HSC: All My Own Work program is designed to help Higher School Certificate students to follow the principles and practices of good scholarship. This includes understanding and valuing ethical practices when locating and using information as part of their HSC studies.

It contains quizes and modules.

LaTeX - a document preparation system

LaTeX (pronounced Lay-Tek) is a document preparation system for high-quality typesetting. It is most often used for medium-to-large technical or scientific documents but it can be used for almost any form of publishing. It is increasingly used at Macquarie U by postgraduates in ICS (computing, mathematics etc).

A good site is at: http://www.latex-project.org/
Wikipedia has some quite clear articles e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LaTeX

LaTeX contains features for:
Typesetting journal articles, technical reports, books, and slide presentations.
Control over large documents containing sectioning, cross-references, tables and figures.
Typesetting of complex mathematical formulas.
Advanced typesetting of mathematics with AMS-LaTeX.
Automatic generation of bibliographies and indexes.
Multi-lingual typesetting.
Inclusion of artwork, and process or spot colour.
Using PostScript or Metafont fonts.
