Update on the Macquarie University Welfare Service

The university has a welfare service that provides information on a range of services and problems including: money matters, rental issues, legal services, mental health, relationships and academic progress issues. It is located at: http://www.campuslife.mq.edu.au/campus-wellbeing/welfare-service

It also has Useful/After Hours contacts for various problems at: http://students.mq.edu.au/campus_life/wellbeing/welfare_service/usefulemergency_contacts/
Some of these are generic (eg Lifeline, Police etc) but some are specific to Macquarie (eg after hours contact for International Students who might have just arrived from overseas).

Remember in an emergency to contact Security. They can call the police or an ambulance.
Do not put yourself in danger but if you can offer support until authorities arrive, or simply let the client know what services are available to help them, please do so. This page has a good selection of possible issues and support mechanisms.
