EBSCOHost ebook and Taylor & Francis PDF file downloads


EBSCOHost Ebook vs Taylor and Francis case - Adobe Reader Setting - two different platforms that requires contrasting setting for the Adobe Reader preferences display option in order that the PDF file will download properly. EBSCOHost Ebook needs to enable the "Display PDF in browser" while Taylor and Francis products needs to disable "Display PDF in browser.

Case:
Ebooks on the platform has the option to be read online or download it when borrowing. When a user preferred that the ebook needs to be read online, a setting in Adobe Reader needs to be adjusted in order to avoid loading ebook contents individually per page outside the browser window.

Solution from EBSCO Publishing:
1. Launch Adobe Reader.
2. Click the Edit menu in the toolbar at the top of Adobe Reader.
3. Select Preferences from the drop-down list of options.
4. Select Internet in the left-column of the resulting menu.
5. Mark the check box Display PDF in browser.
6. Click OK.


Taylor and Francis - Journal access

Case:
In the website of the publisher, once a search done has a result problem is experienced regarding the downloading of full text document via PDF on the Taylor and Francis subscription access.
Using Internet Explorer 9, once gone to any of the collection via the Taylor and Francis platform, the HTML version of the full text can be downloaded but once the PDF is click it does not want to download or it will be too slow before it be retrieved. Once we use Firefox, both version format can be downloaded on a minimal time - through PDF and HTML

Solution from Taylor and Francis:
1. Launch Adobe Reader.
2. Click the Edit menu in the toolbar at the top of Adobe Reader.
3. Select Preferences from the drop-down list of options.
4. Select Internet in the left-column of the resulting menu.
5. Unmark the check box Display PDF in browser.
6. Click OK.
