1. This is an online quiz due March 12 2012.
2. Students are provided with detailed instructions in iLearn on how to proceed. Check first that they have read the instructions and completed the practice quiz. The lecturers have confirmed (via Carol Walker as liaison) that the students are expected to do the assignment themseves.
3. The assignment questions revolve around trying to do set searches in Psychinfo to see the results of different searches, to do an author search and to search for something using the DOI and then checking in Ulrichs to see if the serial title is peer reviewed.
4. Some of the group have come directly from TAFE to start 200 level units, and may be unfamiliar with Library services. Ask what specific problem they have, having read the instructions and completed the practice quiz.
5. In my experience, finding the DOI (and explaining the DOI) can be the most complicated part. Staff may find this 3 minute YouTube video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9Afmknkzeo - which explains how DOIs operate in Psychinfo to be of interest. Note that all platforms for the database are covered.
6. It is anticipated that this assignment will be offered in future years.
