ARC Requests

Please note the following points about placing requests for items held in the Automated Retrieval Collection (ARC):

· Requests are placed by clicking on “Place a Hold/Closed Collection Request/ Automated Retrieval

· Requests will be “picked” and available within 30 minutes. Please do not promise a faster time - even if it is quiet.

· Requests will be held for 3 business days (ie weekend does not count)

· Requests are held under the requestor’s surname. For guests, the request will be located under Guest.

· Requestors will not receive any notification

· Item record will not change in the Catalogue

ARC requests are held for three (3) business days.

If contacted by a client needing an ARC request held for an additional day, note this on the ARC request slip.

If an item cannot be found by a client and the catalogue does not display Automated Retrieval Collection, please treat this as a Missing Item. Concerned clients can be referred to the Borrowing Enquiries Desk where staff can check when the item last circulated.

The How To Borrow page has been updated to include ARC information. http://www.library.mq.edu.au/borrowing/how-to-borrow.html

Note that holds are different to ARC requests. They are collected from Reserve and are held for seven (7) days. Students often get ARC requests confused with Hold request or Document Supply requests. If you can't find the book in the first place, check the others.
