Concerning the breadth of the Alumni Ebsco Databases: the Ebsco databases that Alumni access is not the same version that Macquarie University Staff and Students access.
The Alumni version is more limited than the full version.
As the password is free, recommend to alumni that they request the password and explore the databases to see if they are useful. If they are not, they can allow their access to lapse.
Which databases and how do I access them?:
Alumni are able to apply for access to two EBSCO databases:
Academic Search Alumni Edition
Business Source Alumni Edition
To access these:
1. Alumni must fill out the Alumni Database request form.
2. They will be sent a confirmation email containing username and password.
3. They must access the databases through the EBSCOhost link at the Alumni site: Access to the databases via Google or other methods will not work.
Alumni connect to these databases through the alumni webpages: http://www.mq.edu.au/on_campus/library/borrowing/what_can_i_borrow/alumni/
Under Database Access, you will find both the link to the application form and below the access to log into these databases.
Alternative route: from the Library homepage: on left select Borrowing - What can I borrow? - Alumni to demonstrate access for a client. This page has the Library Card and Database Access application form links.
